Defeated?
It you spend any time in the Psalms, it won’t talk long before you’ll see that David often felt defeated, felt alone, felt as if God had forsaken him. Of course, he found quickly enough that he was neither alone nor forsaken. And he was never defeated, he might be under God’s judgment, His discipline, but defeated? Never. When you feel that way, here are a few verses that should help turn all that around.
Psalm 91:1-10 - KJV Updated
He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you shall find refuge: his truth shall be your shield and buckler. You won’t be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand shall fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. You shall see it only with your eye - the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation; There shall be no evil that befalls you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.
Psalm 9:10 - KJV Updated

Psalm 23 - The 23rd Psalm - KJV Updated
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makeS me to lie down in green pastures: he leadS me beside the still waters. He restoreS my soul: he leadS me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Psalm 46: 1-3
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah

Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet your commandments are my delights. The righteousness of your testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.
Psalm 86:1-6 - KJV updated
Bow down your ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O you are my God, save your servant that trusts in you. Be merciful to me, O Lord: for I cry to you daily. Rejoice the soul of your servant: for to thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and great in mercy to all them that who call on you. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.

I cried to you, O Lord: I said, your are my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. Attend to my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise your name: the righteous shall surround me; for you shall deal bountifully with me.
